Constable Hezekiah James Augustus Reeves, a 20-year veteran of the Pineville Police Department in Louisiana, tragically died on December 14, 1901. He succumbed to a gunshot wound sustained while attempting to arrest a man who had discharged a firearm at a public meeting. The suspect responsible for the shooting was never apprehended and remained at large.
