Eugene A. McClure, a 41-year-old White man, had his life cut short in a fatal shooting in his hometown of Owensboro, Kentucky, in the spring of 2024.
On the night of Tuesday, April 9, 2024, officers from the Owensboro Police Department responded to reports of a shooting in the 1100 block of East 20th Street. Upon arrival, they discovered a man on the ground suffering from his injuries. Emergency medical services transported the man to a local hospital, but he did not survive.
The Daviess County Coroner’s Office later identified him as Eugene McClure.
The investigation into McClure’s death progressed quickly. Detectives were able to identify a suspect, and an arrest was made in connection with the homicide.
Police arrested 19-year-old Samuel Hamilton of Owensboro. He was charged with murder, tampering with evidence, and receiving stolen property. As of April 2024, the case against Hamilton was proceeding through the judicial system.
