In the early morning hours of September 9, 2023, the life of Princess Ivon Charles, a 29-year-old Black/African American woman from Quincy, Massachusetts, was tragically cut short. On Greenock Street in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, she was found suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency services transported her to a local hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries. Another individual was also shot during the incident but sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The weeks that followed were filled with investigation and grief, as friends and family mourned the loss of a woman remembered for the light she brought into their lives. Her loved ones recalled a beautiful smile and a silly, funny personality, describing her as a loving mother and a great friend.
Nearly two months after the fatal shooting, authorities made significant headway in the case. On November 2, 2023, it was announced that two men had been taken into custody in connection with her death. Kevin Facey, 28, of Randolph, was apprehended in Providence, Rhode Island, while 31-year-old Tevin Herman of Nantucket was arrested on the island. Both men face a series of serious charges, including murder, armed assault to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and carrying a firearm without a license. Facey also faced a charge in Providence as a fugitive from justice. Following their arrests, both suspects were expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
