In the late morning of March 14, 2024, tragedy struck in Fall River, Massachusetts, when 18-year-old Colus Jamal Mills-Good, a Black male, was fatally shot. The incident occurred around 11:41 a.m. in the vicinity of Rock and Franklin Streets. Responding to reports of gunfire, police discovered Mills-Good suffering from gunshot wounds. He was quickly transported to St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, where he was pronounced deceased.
At the time of his death, Mills-Good was a student at Resiliency Preparatory Academy and was expected to graduate later that year.
The investigation into the death of Colus Jamal Mills-Good led to the apprehension of four suspects. Amannie Chiclana, 19, of Fall River, was identified as the alleged shooter and taken into custody in Stoughton. He faces charges of murder and carrying an illegal firearm. Chiclana was ordered to be held without bail. Surveillance footage reportedly shows three men exiting a black Acura before the shooting, with prosecutors alleging Chiclana was the one who fired the fatal shots.
Three other Fall River residents were also arrested and charged in connection with the homicide. Jadyn Ortiz, 19, Xzavien Figueroa-Valcarel, 19, and Giovanni Nunes, 18, were all charged with accessory to murder after the fact. Authorities allege that Ortiz, Figueroa-Valcarel, and Nunes were inside the Acura with Chiclana when they approached Mills-Good. During a search of Ortiz's apartment at the time of his arrest, police reportedly found a 45-caliber handgun that had been thrown out of a window. The three men were held on substantial bail. Prosecutors stated that two different firearms were used in the attack, with one person firing shots from the vehicle and a second individual, identified as Chiclana, getting out of the car and shooting Mills-Good at close range. The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.
