In the late morning of Wednesday, April 3, 2024, the life of a 43-year-old Springfield woman, Angela Mercado, was tragically cut short. The Black / African American female was in a parking lot on Riverdale Road in West Springfield when a disturbance led to her being shot. Police were dispatched to the scene just before 11 a.m. after receiving 911 calls. Upon their arrival, they discovered Mercado bleeding from a bullet wound.
