In the early morning hours of Saturday, April 27, 2024, the life of George Deeble Jr., a 42-year-old Black/African American man from Dorchester, was tragically cut short. At approximately 4:44 AM, Boston police officers from the B-3 District in Mattapan responded to reports of a person shot in the area of Blue Hill Avenue and Fremont Street. Upon their arrival, they discovered Mr. Deeble suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Boston EMS quickly transported him to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced deceased. The incident marked the first homicide in the city of Boston in a two-month period.
The investigation into the death of George Deeble was swiftly undertaken by the Boston Police Department's Homicide Unit. For weeks, detectives worked to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting. On the afternoon of Tuesday, June 4, 2024, members of the Boston Police Fugitive Unit located and arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of George Deeble. Triston Jules, a 37-year-old resident of Mattapan, was taken into custody in the vicinity of Talbot Avenue and Whitfield Street. At the time of his arrest, Jules was wanted on a murder warrant that had been issued out of Suffolk Superior Court. He was expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court to face the charges related to the shooting death of George Deeble. While an arrest has been made, the Boston Police Department's Homicide Unit has stated that they are continuing to actively review the facts and circumstances surrounding the homicide.
