Jamie Kimble, age 31, was tragically killed on September 3, 2012, in Tampa, Florida. Her death occurred in what authorities have described as a murder-suicide carried out by her ex-boyfriend, Luis Roberson Rodriguez. Jamie had recently returned from a trip to London, and Rodriguez met her at Tampa International Airport. The couple, who had been in an on-and-off relationship for seven years, had broken up three months prior.
On that fateful night, Rodriguez picked her up, shot her, and then turned the gun on himself.
Jamie had been preparing to move to Dallas for a new job with Coca-Cola Consolidated, and her family described her as compassionate and vibrant, with a promising future ahead. Jamie’s parents, Ron and Jan Kimble, have since founded the Jamie Kimble Foundation for Courage to raise awareness about domestic violence. They work to prevent intimate partner violence and encourage others to recognize warning signs of abusive relationships. The foundation has been instrumental in spreading awareness and providing resources to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.
