Born in Dade City, Florida, to Gilberto Navarro and Hermina Campos Alvarez, Ricky had established his life in Elkhart where he was known for his dedication to his family and his work. A Hispanic man who took pride in his labor, he spent his days cleaning local businesses and utilized his spare time working on cars, a pastime he deeply enjoyed.
Friends and family remembered him as a giving individual with a warm smile, an affinity for tattoos, and a love for his pit bulls and good food. Above all, he was celebrated as a devoted father to his children, Angel, Ricardo, Samantha, and Yaretzi.
The tragic turn of events unfolded on Sunday, July 2, 2023, when Ricky was discovered deceased at his home in Elkhart. Local authorities responded to the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death, which was later categorized as a result of gun violence. The Elkhart Police Department and the Elkhart County Homicide Unit undertook the investigation into the shooting, seeking to piece together the events that led to the loss of a man described by those who knew him as hardworking and generous.
Following the incident, the investigation remained active as detectives sought information regarding the person or persons responsible.
