In a tragic turn of events that unfolded in Avon, Indiana, 20-year-old Samuel Oliver lost his life in a fatal shooting on January 11, 2024. The incident, which also resulted in the death of 20-year-old Patrick Day, was the culmination of what investigators believe to be a drug-related robbery gone wrong. The two men are believed to have shot each other during the encounter, which took place on Glensford Drive in the Park Place Neighborhood.
Oliver was pronounced dead at the scene, while Day was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into the double homicide revealed a more complex situation than just a fatal exchange between two individuals. While Oliver and Day were the direct actors in the shooting, law enforcement officials pursued leads that suggested others were involved in orchestrating the events of that night. Their efforts led to the arrests of two individuals, Olivia Kursky and Gavin Bowman, who were taken into custody in connection with the deadly incident.
According to court documents, Kursky is alleged to have played a crucial role in setting up the drug deal that served as the backdrop for the violent encounter. Meanwhile, Bowman is accused of providing Patrick Day with the firearm used in the shooting of Samuel Oliver. Following their arrests, both Kursky and Bowman were charged with two counts of armed robbery. They are currently being held in the Hendricks County Jail. The Avon Police Department, with assistance from the Indiana Crime Guns Task Force, pieced together the events leading to the deaths through a methodical investigation that included the use of search warrants on social media accounts, which reportedly provided key evidence.
