On December 22, 2012, Bryan Herrera, a 16-year-old student from Miami, Florida, was shot and killed while riding his bicycle to a friend’s house in the Allapattah neighborhood. It was a Saturday morning during winter break, and Bryan was on his way to do homework with a friend. The shooting took place around 11 a.m., just a few blocks away from his own home. The young victim was shot in the head and later died from his injuries at the scene.
