In the quiet, early morning hours of September 15, 2024, in Martinsville, Indiana, the life of 18-year-old Thawng Tha Sang, an Asian male, was tragically cut short. An altercation at a residence in the 1100 block of Robb Hill Road escalated, shattering the peace with the sound of gunfire. It was during this violent exchange that Thawng was struck by a gunshot.
Despite his severe injury, Thawng managed to get into a vehicle and flee the scene.
He drove for about a mile before succumbing to his wound at the intersection of State Roads 39 and 142. It was there that he was found and pronounced deceased by the Morgan County Coroner's Office. The investigation into his death was swiftly taken over by the Morgan County Major Crimes Task Force.
As of the initial reports, law enforcement officials believed the shooting to be an isolated incident and assured the public that there was no ongoing danger to the community.
