On February 7, 2023, Keith Strange, a 31-year-old entrepreneur, was fatally shot in the Avalon Park neighborhood of Chicago. The incident occurred around 8:15 p.m. in the 8100 block of South Kenwood Avenue. Strange had visited his mother's home, where he had previously lived, and was helping a disabled cousin get into his white pickup truck.
