On February 10, 2023, at approximately 5:43 p.m., Madison Police responded to a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Washington Avenue and 10th Street in Madison, Illinois. Upon arrival, officers discovered a vehicle that had collided with a tree at high speed. The driver, later identified as 29-year-old Sterling D. Harrell of Granite City, was found with a gunshot wound to the head and injuries from the crash. He was airlifted to a St. Louis hospital but succumbed to his injuries on Sund ...
