On July 16, 2023, Tristan Meeks, a 43-year-old resident of Maywood, Illinois, was fatally shot in the area of 4th and Main Streets in Maywood. Police responded to a call about shots fired and found Meeks suffering from multiple gunshot wounds at the scene.
Meeks was transported to Loyola University Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
An investigation by the Maywood Police Department led to the arrest of Charles Williams, a 27-year-old man from Chicago, on September 8, 2023. Williams was charged with first-degree murder in connection with Meeks' death.
Williams was scheduled to appear in bond court at the Cook County Leighton Courthouse following his arrest. The Maywood Police Department continues to investigate the incident and has asked anyone with information to contact Maywood Police Investigations Sergeant Pezdek or the Maywood Police Department Anonymous Tip Line.
The case remains under active investigation, with the police seeking additional information from the public to aid in their inquiries.
