William Daryl Campbell III, born on November 7, 1987, in Kankakee, Illinois, passed away on September 3, 2023, at the age of 35. He was the first-born son of William Campbell and Jacqueline Chambers.
William spent his early life in Kankakee and later attended Job Corps in Kentucky, where he earned his GED. He furthered his education by attending trade school in Wisconsin, obtaining several certificates. Professionally, he worked as a machine operator for American Cylinder Co.
in Peotone, Illinois.
Outside of his professional life, William was known for his devotion to his family and friends. He enjoyed various hobbies, including playing his PlayStation 5, spending time with loved ones, and watching the Green Bay Packers.
William is survived by his mother, Jacqueline (the late Larry) Chambers of Kankakee; his father, William (Tenka) Campbell of Kankakee; and his children: Jalen Campbell of Mesa, Arizona, Aaliyah Campbell of Kankakee, Jaylon Campbell-Wellnitz, Jeremiah, Josiah, Jayla, and Jaiden Campbell of Wisconsin, and Aniya Marshall of Bourbonnais. He also leaves behind several siblings, including Alexandra Campbell, Brittany (Ricky) Hopkins, Charice Murry Campbell, Kassi Washington, William Campbell, Theodore Williams, Patrick Campbell, Ryan Chambers, Dwayne (Jeanine) Carr, and Weylin (Dominique) Chambers. His paternal grandparents, William Campbell and Helen Jackson, also survive him.
In addition to his immediate family, William is survived by a special friend, Kendra McCurry of Kankakee, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Preceding him in death were his maternal grandparents, Jessie and Bessie Langon; his paternal stepgrandmother, Colbert Campbell; and several aunts and uncles, including Charlene Jones, Earnestine Herron, Dennis, Robert, and Derrick Langon.
Funeral arrangements for William included a visitation from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, September 15, at Jones Funeral Home in Kankakee. His funeral service was held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Bradley, with the Rev. W. David Johnson officiating the service.
