On October 12, 2023, at approximately 2:25 a.m., Chicago police officers responded to a "shots fired" call in the 6200 block of South Troy Street in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood. Upon arrival, they discovered 22-year-old Oscar Rubio Jr. lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds to his body. A handgun was found next to him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
