On October 12, 2023, at approximately 2:25 a.m., Chicago police officers responded to a "shots fired" call in the 6200 block of South Troy Street in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood. Upon arrival, they discovered 22-year-old Oscar Rubio Jr. lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds to his body. A handgun was found next to him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 19-year-old man, also involved in the incident, was dropped off at Holy Cross Hospital with gunshot wounds to his arm and torso. He was later transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition. A witness reported seeing a red truck speeding away from the scene after the shots were fired.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. The Chicago Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
