Jose Enrique Avila, a 32-year-old Hispanic male, was fatally shot on May 5, 2020, in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago. Avila was standing in the doorway of a home in the 4600 block of South Marshfield Avenue when an unknown assailant approached him and opened fire. The shooter, who emerged from a dark-colored vehicle, fired multiple shots at Avila before fleeing the scene in the same vehicle.
