On February 8, 2024, a fatal shooting occurred in Lockport Township, Illinois, resulting in the death of James Berry, a 52-year-old resident of Lockport. The incident happened around 7 p.m. when Berry and a 55-year-old man returned to a residence in the 200 block of Riverview Avenue after a trip to a local grocery store. As they approached the front door, an unknown person, later identified as Jaron Nabors Jr., began firing shots at them.
