On April 21, 2024, Chicago Police Officer Luis M. Huesca, a 30-year-old six-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department (CPD), was fatally shot while on his way home from work. The incident occurred in the Gage Park neighborhood on the southwest side of Chicago. Huesca, who was still in his uniform but with a jacket over it, was found outside his home in the 3100 block of West 56th Street, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds after officers responded to a ShotSpotter gunshot detection alert ...
