On January 6, 2014, 25-year-old Juan Shanks was killed in a drive-by shooting on Jacksonville's Westside. He was standing outside when a vehicle drove by, and shots were fired, fatally wounding him. Despite the efforts of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, no arrests have been made in connection with the homicide, and the case remains unsolved.
