On the night of June 16, 2024, Derrick A. Dansby-Draine, a 39-year-old Black male from Pembroke Township, Illinois, was found unresponsive with gunshot wounds along the 15400 block of East 4500S Road. Deputies had been dispatched at about 10:23 p.m.; despite efforts at the scene, 39-year-old Derrick A. Dansby-Draine was pronounced dead.
The Kankakee County Coroner later determined that the 39-year-old Black male died of multiple gunshot wounds and classified the death as a homicide.
