On September 9, 2024, a fatal shooting occurred in the West Chatham neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois, resulting in the death of 30-year-old Devon Beal. The incident happened in the 7900-block of South Lafayette Avenue around 4:30 p.m. Beal was driving westbound on 79th Street when a sedan pulled up, and someone inside fired shots at him.
