On September 29, 2024, a fatal shooting occurred during an unsanctioned 'pop-up' party in the early morning hours in Normal, Illinois, as part of Illinois State University's homecoming weekend. The victim, Randall E. Glass, an 18-year-old from Oak Lawn, Illinois, was shot along with another 18-year-old male in the 300 block of North Main Street, near ISU's Bone Student Center and Hancock Stadium.
