In the winter of 2023, a life was tragically cut short in Columbus, Georgia. On the evening of January 15th, 23-year-old Kameron Duane Holcey of Phenix City, Alabama, was fatally shot in the 2900 block of 3rd Avenue. The Columbus Police Department's Homicide Unit immediately launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the young man's death.
The investigation quickly led to a suspect.
Four days after the shooting, on January 19, 2023, warrants were issued for the arrest of 36-year-old Quincy Hill, who is also known by the alias 'Ty'. The U.S. Marshals tracked Hill to a hotel in Phenix City, Alabama, where he was taken into custody on February 2, 2023.
Following his arrest, Hill was extradited to Columbus, Georgia, on February 3, 2023, to face charges related to Holcey's death. The warrants for his arrest included charges for murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
