In the early morning hours of June 18, 2023, the vibrant streets of downtown Savannah were pierced by the sound of gunfire, leaving a young man's life cut tragically short. Rion LeDarieon Plummer, a 20-year-old Black male from Savannah, was fatally wounded in the shooting, which occurred on Congress Street. The incident was part of a noticeable increase in gun violence that the city experienced in June of that year.
