In the quiet town of Bronwood, Georgia, a grim discovery shattered the morning of October 18, 2023. Inside their home, 68-year-old Gary Milton Bailey Sr., a male, and his 66-year-old wife, Donna Sue Bailey, were found deceased, having both suffered multiple gunshot wounds. The responding Terrell County Sheriff's deputies also found the couple's pet cat, which had been fatally shot as well.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested to assist in the homicide investigation, which quickly led to a suspect within the family. On the same day the bodies were discovered, authorities arrested the couple's grandson, 27-year-old Gary Milton Bailey III, also of Bronwood. The motive for the killings has not been publicly released, but the charges brought against Bailey III paint a disturbing picture of the events that transpired.
Gary Milton Bailey III was charged with a litany of offenses, including two counts of felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Additionally, he faces charges of exploitation and intimidation of an elder person, and aggravated animal cruelty for the death of the family's cat. Following his arrest, he was taken into custody and is being held at the Terrell County Jail. The investigation into the double homicide remains active and ongoing. Once the investigation is complete, the case will be handed over to the Pataula Judicial Circuit for prosecution.
