In the quiet town of Bronwood, Georgia, a tragic event unfolded that claimed the life of 19-year-old Joshua Brown and two others. On a Monday in October 2021, Brown and 54-year-old John Baisden Sr. were discovered shot to death at a residence in the small Terrell County community. The grim discovery marked the beginning of a triple homicide investigation that would soon lead authorities to another victim and a single suspect.
As law enforcement delved into the case, the investigation quickly expanded beyond the initial crime scene. Later the same day, about 15 miles away in Dawson, 57-year-old Ida Mae Johnson was found shot at her home. She succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Investigators soon determined that the three killings were related.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation identified 54-year-old Larry Eugene Calloway of Parrot as the suspect in the triple homicide. Authorities revealed that Calloway was in a relationship with a relative of the victims. Following the shootings, Calloway fled and was captured after he crashed the vehicle he was driving. He was taken to a hospital for medical treatment after allegedly ingesting pills. Calloway was subsequently charged with three counts of felony murder in connection with the deaths of Joshua Brown, John Baisden Sr., and Ida Mae Johnson.
