In the small town of Bronwood, Georgia, a shocking act of violence claimed the life of John Baisden Sr., a 54-year-old man, in a devastating triple homicide. On Monday, October 18, 2021, the Terrell County Sheriff's Office was called to a residence at 114-B Oak Street, where they discovered the bodies of Baisden and 19-year-old Joshua Brown. Both men had been fatally shot.
The investigation quickly expanded when the Dawson Police Department reported another shooting at 456 Stonewall Street in Dawson. There, authorities found 57-year-old Ida Mae Johnson, who had also died from gunshot wounds. Investigators soon determined that the three killings were connected.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was brought in to lead the case. Their work led to the identification of a suspect, 54-year-old Larry Eugene Calloway of Parrott, Georgia. Calloway was reportedly in a relationship with a family member of the three victims.
Following the shootings, Calloway was located at Phoebe Putney Hospital in Albany, where he was receiving medical treatment after allegedly ingesting pills. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced that upon his release from the hospital, Calloway would be taken into custody and charged with felony murder in connection with the deaths of John Baisden Sr., Joshua Brown, and Ida Mae Johnson. He was to be booked into the Terrell County Jail.
