On January 29, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers from the Tifton Police Department responded to reports of a shooting near the intersection of West 17th Street and South Central Avenue in Tifton, Georgia. Upon arrival, they discovered 33-year-old Brendan Rashad Burns with a fatal gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene. Further investigation revealed that a vehicle at the intersection had also been struck by gunfire, though its occupants were unharmed.
