On March 4, 2024, a fatal shooting occurred in the parking lot of a Hooters restaurant located at 1001 Bullsboro Drive in Newnan, Georgia. The victim, Luke Keone Prescott Oliveira, a 22-year-old resident of Newnan, was found shot at the scene. Police were called to the restaurant just after midnight and discovered Oliveira, who was then rushed to an Atlanta-area hospital. Despite medical efforts, Oliveira succumbed to his injuries and died just after 6 a.m..
