On June 16, 2024, a tragic incident occurred at Smith State Prison in Glennville, Georgia, resulting in the death of 24-year-old Aureon Shavea Grace, a resident of Statesboro, Georgia. Grace, who was a mother of two young children, a 1-year-old son and a 4-year-old daughter, worked as a food service employee for Aramark in the prison's kitchen. She had started this job in January 2024 and was known for her hard work to provide for her family.
