In the late morning of August 1, 2024, the life of 20-year-old Gabreon Tyrese Harrison was tragically cut short. Deputies responded to a call about a person down at a residence on Holland Drive in Macon, Georgia, shortly after 10:15 a.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered Harrison suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics provided immediate medical aid before transporting him to a local hospital in critical condition.
Despite their efforts, Gabreon Tyrese Harrison was pronounced dead by the Bibb County Coroner.
The investigation into the shooting death of the young man, a graduate of Baldwin High School who was remembered for his love of basketball and family, quickly led to the identification of several suspects. On August 5, 2024, 17-year-old Cris Yair Blanco surrendered to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office. Following an interview with investigators, he was formally charged with murder and booked into the Bibb County Jail without bond.
Just a few days later, on August 8, a second suspect was apprehended. With the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, the Bibb County Sheriff's Office investigators and Gang Unit arrested 17-year-old Jamarion Pennymon at a residence on Fairfax Drive. He too was charged with murder and taken to the Bibb County Jail, where he was held without bond.
The search for a third individual connected to Harrison's death continued for several months. Authorities identified 17-year-old Johnquavis Leonardo Ruthledge as a suspect and sought public assistance in locating him, believing he might be hiding in the metro Atlanta area. The manhunt for Ruthledge, who was described as having a distinctive spider web tattoo on his neck, concluded on March 12, 2025. After a foot chase with members of the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, the now 18-year-old was taken into custody on Pursley Street. Following medical treatment for a leg injury sustained during the pursuit, he was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center and charged with murder, also being held without bond.
