A quiet Saturday morning in Augusta, Georgia, was shattered by the discovery of a woman's body, bringing a tragic end to the life of a beloved community member. On August 17, 2024, 53-year-old Monique Elaine Hawes was found lying on Dan Bowles Road, the victim of a fatal gunshot wound. The Richmond County Coroner's Office confirmed her identity and that she had been shot at least once.
