In the late hours of a Monday night in Northeast D.C., tragedy struck, leaving a community searching for answers. On June 5, 2023, 58-year-old Kevin Lewis, a male resident of the city, was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The incident occurred around 11:20 p.m. in the 2500 block of 14th Street, Northeast, near Saratoga Avenue.
Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting and discovered Mr. Lewis in critical condition.
He was quickly transported to a local hospital for medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Kevin Lewis succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. His death marked the 99th homicide in the District for that year.
The investigation into the shooting began immediately, with detectives from the Homicide Branch taking charge of the case. As of the initial reports, the police had not released any information regarding a potential motive or any persons of interest. The circumstances leading up to the fatal shooting remained unclear to the public.
In an effort to gather more information, the Metropolitan Police Department has appealed to the public for assistance.
