Carlos Moreno Anariva, a 36-year-old resident of Orlando, Florida, was tragically killed on the night of January 7, 2023. Deputies responded to reports of a shooting at a condominium complex near the Millenia Mall on the 1900 block of Lake Atriums Circle. Upon arrival, they found Moreno suffering from a fatal gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation into the incident, which revealed no immediate suspects at the time.
Subsequently, two individuals, Jacquarius Amir Legrand, 22, and Jaivien Tahjaii Elliott, 19, were arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with Moreno’s death. These developments brought some answers to the grieving family and community, who mourned the loss of a life cut short by violence. Moreno’s family organized efforts to repatriate his body to Honduras for a proper burial with his loved ones.
