Jeremiah Prince, a 25-year-old resident of Jacksonville, Florida, was fatally shot on January 9, 2023, in the Grand Park neighborhood. The incident occurred on Martha Street, where Prince was shot multiple times, with his loved one reporting that he was hit more than five times by gunfire.
The shooting was one of three unrelated incidents reported in the Jacksonville area on the same night.
Surveillance videos obtained from the scene of the shooting reveal the sound of approximately 19 gunshots, followed by a car speeding away immediately after the last shot.
Prince's loved one, who wished to remain anonymous, described him as "a great son, brother, uncle, friend, and overall, just a great young man. Always smiling and joking. Took on roles of many." She expressed the senselessness of the attack and the need for better ways to solve problems, emphasizing that "death shouldn’t always be the outcome."
As of the current reports, the circumstances leading up to the shooting and the identities of those involved are unclear. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has not released any information regarding suspects and has appealed to the public for any information.
