Her car was targeted by someone who opened fire, resulting in Alexcia's death and serious injuries to another woman who was in the passenger seat. The car was found "riddled with bullet holes." The family reported that they were returning home after celebrating a Jaguars playoff victory.
Alexcia's parents, Rekita Jones and Paul Anderson, are seeking justice and answers regarding her death. They have emphasized that Alexcia did not have any known enemies and had never been in trouble. Her mother expressed the fear that her daughter might be forgotten as time passes, and both parents are actively reaching out to detectives for updates on the case.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) is still investigating the incident and has not made any arrests as of the latest reports. The JSO continues to ask anyone with information to come forward by contacting them through various channels, including phone, email, or Crime Stoppers.
In the wake of her death, Alexcia's family has created the "In Her Innocence The Alexcia Anderson Foundation" to raise awareness about gun violence and to support victims' families. The family is also grappling with the emotional impact of Alexcia's death, particularly the knowledge that her daughter, Dalilah, will grow up without her mother.
