Ivan DeJesus, a 30-year-old man, was fatally shot at an Airbnb located in the 4700 block of Northeast 18th Avenue in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The incident occurred early Thursday morning on April 27, 2023. DeJesus had celebrated his 30th birthday just weeks prior to his death, on April 8.
After being shot, DeJesus went to Holy Cross Hospital, which is a short distance from the scene, and was later transferred to Broward Health Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.
Neighbors reported hearing multiple rounds of gunfire, with one neighbor, David Hart, describing the sounds and also detailing the suspect’s car after the perpetrator fled the scene.

He was a mechanic who loved working on cars and was deeply devoted to his family and friends, particularly his two-year-old son, Max, who he adored above all else. His family remembered him as someone with magnetic charisma who would help anyone in need.

They held a candlelight vigil in Hollywood to celebrate his life and have expressed their heartbreak and frustration over the loss.
