Jordan Siddiq, a 35-year-old resident of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, tragically lost his life on March 15, 2022. Siddiq was working as a server at Shooters Waterfront, a popular local restaurant, when he was fatally shot by a former employee, Angel Candelaria. The incident occurred in the afternoon, shortly after Siddiq arrived for his shift. Surveillance footage from the restaurant captured the confrontation between Siddiq and Candelaria, who had arrived at the restaurant a few minutes earlier and sat at the outside bar. The two men were seen conversing for several minutes before Candelaria suddenly pulled out a handgun and shot Siddiq. Candelaria initially walked away but then returned to shoot Siddiq a second time before leaving the scene.

Siddiq was rushed to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, though friends of Siddiq speculated that it might have been related to Candelaria's ex-girlfriend. Following the shooting, Fort Lauderdale Police launched a manhunt for Candelaria, who was apprehended a few hours later while riding a bicycle. He was found with a handgun in his possession and was taken into custody without incident. While in the back of a police patrol car, Candelaria made phone calls using his Apple Watch, expressing regret and acknowledging his impending incarceration.

Candelaria was charged with first-degree murder and remains in custody without bond. The case has drawn significant attention from the local community, with many expressing their grief and shock over Siddiq's untimely death. A memorial quickly grew outside Shooters Waterfront, with flowers, candles, and heartfelt messages honoring Siddiq's memory. Friends and co-workers described Siddiq as a positive and beloved individual who always brought joy to those around him. The restaurant remained closed for several days following the incident as a mark of respect and to allow the community to mourn.

The legal proceedings against Candelaria are ongoing, with the suspect facing serious charges that could result in a lengthy prison sentence if convicted. The tragic event has left a lasting impact on Siddiq's family, friends, and the Fort Lauderdale community, who continue to seek justice for his senseless murder.
