Kevon Chapman, a 23-year-old resident of Lauderhill, Florida, was fatally shot in the early hours of Christmas Day, December 25, 2023. The incident occurred in the 2400 block of Northwest 8th Avenue in unincorporated Broward County. Deputies responded to a ShotSpotter alert just after 12:30 a.m. and found Chapman suffering from gunshot wounds.
Chapman was immediately taken to Broward Health Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation led by the Broward Sheriff's Office identified Shenard Bohler, a 22-year-old from Hollywood, Florida, as the suspect in the shooting.
Bohler was linked to the crime after detectives discovered that he had previously fired multiple gunshots at Chapman during an incident on September 30, 2023, in Lauderhill. Following the identification of Bohler as the suspect, he was arrested on a Saturday and booked into jail. Bohler is currently facing a first-degree murder charge in connection with Chapman's death.
The arrest marked the culmination of a two-month investigation into the fatal shooting, bringing some closure to the family and friends of Kevon Chapman. However, the case is now in the judicial process, with Bohler awaiting trial for the charges against him.
