Marvis Bedgood, a 21-year-old from Escambia County, Florida, was reported missing and endangered in mid-December 2023. His last contact with his family was on December 18, 2023. Bedgood's disappearance was described by his mother, Sheunta Gooden, as if he had "just vanished," with numerous false sightings reported but none confirming his presence.
On January 7, 2024, the Escambia County Sheriff's Office located Bedgood's body in a wooded area on Pinestead Road in the Wedgewood
community. The body was identified as Marvis Bedgood, bringing a sense of closure to his family, although it was a tragic one.
The investigation into Bedgood's death is ongoing, with the Escambia County Sheriff's Office treating it as a homicide. The autopsy indicated that foul play is suspected, and the death was likely the result of gunshot wounds. Sheriff Chip Simmons confirmed that deputies have conducted search warrants as part of the investigation and are seeking any information from the public that could aid in solving the case.
Bedgood's family is now planning a memorial instead of celebrating what would have been his 22nd birthday. His mother expressed her grief, describing Marvis as "my miracle baby" and a "very sweet child." The family, which includes seven other siblings, his grandmother, and his father, is struggling to cope with the loss.
