Henry Cox, a 53-year-old resident of St. Cloud, Florida, died on March 5, 2024, under circumstances related to an ongoing investigation into child pornography.
Cox was one of two individuals, along with his father James Cox, who were being investigated for allegations involving the production and handling of child pornography. The investigation began after St. Cloud police received a tip in November about child pornography being uploaded to the internet from an IP address associated with James Cox. A search warrant was executed at their home on January 19, 2024, and James Cox was subsequently arrested on March 5, 2024.
On the morning of March 5, 2024, as law enforcement, including Homeland Security agents, closed in on the residence to serve a federal arrest warrant on Henry Cox, he took his own life. The Osceola County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head and ruled the manner of death as a suicide.
The investigation had uncovered evidence of child pornography, including images and videos depicting children inside the home and in public restrooms, found on devices seized during the search. James Cox admitted to looking at child pornography and uploading pictures to search engines to find similar images. Henry Cox, however, had denied any involvement in the alleged activities.
James Cox was taken into custody and appeared in court on the same day, where he was ordered to remain in jail. The case highlights the severe consequences and the urgent response from law enforcement in addressing such serious and disturbing allegations.
