On May 2, 2016, 23-year-old Devanti Brown was shot and killed during a drug-related incident on Jacksonville's Westside. The shooting occurred in the evening, and initial reports indicated that the encounter took place as a deal went wrong, leading to an argument that escalated into gunfire. Law enforcement was able to arrest an individual in connection with the incident.
