Meghan Moore, a 25-year-old woman from Centerville, Massachusetts, and her roommate, Sidney Capolino, 23, from Pawling, New York, were tragically killed in a murder-suicide incident in Miami, Florida. The event occurred on the night of Saturday, March 16, 2024, at a condominium complex in Southwest Miami-Dade.
According to the Miami-Dade Police, the perpetrator was 40-year-old Luis Napoles.
Napoles shot Meghan Moore outside her apartment and then entered the apartment, where he shot and killed Sidney Capolino before taking his own life. All three were pronounced dead at the scene.
Meghan Moore and Sidney Capolino were former teammates on the women's hockey team at New England College in Henniker, New Hampshire. Moore graduated in 2021, and Capolino graduated in 2022. Moore was also a standout athlete and varsity hockey player at Barnstable High School, which she graduated from in 2017.
Luis Napoles was described by friends and family of Meghan Moore as an acquaintance who had become obsessive and harassing. Moore had met Napoles at her previous job at a restaurant in Miami, where she had moved after graduating from college. Despite initial reports suggesting a romantic relationship between Moore and Napoles, friends and family clarified that they were not in a romantic relationship. Instead, Napoles had become increasingly obsessive, contacting Moore on multiple phone numbers and attempting to insert himself into her life despite her efforts to keep her distance.

New England College expressed profound sadness over the loss of the two recent graduates and made counselors available for students. The Barnstable Public Schools also released a statement mourning the loss of Meghan Moore, remembering her as someone who always had a smile on her face and loved to laugh.

Her mother, Marybeth Moore, described her as "electrifying, amazing" and someone who loved everybody.
