On Sunday, June 23, 2024, a fatal shooting occurred in the 2800 block of NE 8th Terrace in northeast Ocala, Florida. The Ocala Police Department (OPD) responded to the incident around 11:25 p.m. and found 24-year-old Derrick Brown Jr. suffering from a gunshot wound. Brown was immediately transported to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
