Cameron "Tyler" Hendrix, aged 25, was tragically shot and killed on July 12, 2016, in Jacksonville, Florida. On that day, Tyler left his home to ride his bicycle with friends around his neighborhood on Jacksonville’s west side. Later, his body was found near the Paradise Village mobile home park along Beaver Street, lying beside his bicycle with multiple gunshot wounds.
A passerby discovered him and attempted to help, but unfortunately, Tyler died from his injuries before paramedics could arrive.
This was not the first time Tyler had been a victim of gun violence. In September 2012, he was shot during an attempted robbery, leaving the left side of his body paralyzed. However, with determination and help from a rehabilitation center, he managed to regain partial mobility. Following his recovery, Tyler got a job with a construction company, a milestone his family was immensely proud of. Despite his past, Tyler remained resilient, and his determination to move forward inspired those around him.
Tyler was well-loved by his family and friends. Known for his caring and giving nature, he would write IOUs for even small amounts, and his mother spoke of how this reflected his generous spirit. His family continues to honor his memory by celebrating his life through activities he enjoyed, such as visiting the beach or attending church.
The investigation into Tyler’s death remains unsolved, and authorities have not publicly identified any suspects. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, alongside First Coast Crime Stoppers, has appealed to the community for information, offering a monetary reward for tips that lead to an arrest.
