Randall Pitts, a resident of Jacksonville, Florida, was fatally shot in a domestic incident on January 1, 2023. The shooting occurred at a home located on Hidden Creek Road in the Northside neighborhood of Jacksonville. Pitts was taken to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries, marking the first homicide of the year in Jacksonville.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) reported that the incident was domestic in nature.
Following the shooting, JSO detained an individual connected to the incident for questioning, although it is unclear if any charges have been filed as of the latest reports.
Pitts was described by friends as a loving husband, father, and close friend to many. A friend, Garrett Lloyd, remembered Pitts fondly, stating that he was like a "bonus dad" and a very good person who would do anything for others. Pitts had a prior arrest for domestic battery and was served with a domestic violence injunction that was in effect for four years.
