On October 4, 2024, a tragic incident occurred at Apple Rehab, a nursing and rehabilitation facility located on Berlin Road in Cromwell, Connecticut. Around 11 a.m., an 82-year-old man, Dennis Brandt, entered the room of his 81-year-old wife, Barbara Brandt, who was a long-term resident at the facility since 2021. He shot and killed her before turning the gun on himself, resulting in his own death from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
