On July 20, 2023, Harvey Jackson Austin, a 40-year-old resident of Hot Springs, Arkansas, lost his life to gun violence. The incident occurred in the 700 block of Ward Street in Hot Springs, where Austin was found dead along with another victim, 40-year-old Joe Nathaniel Hicks Jr..

Both victims were discovered inside a home with what appeared to be gunshot wounds when officers from the Hot Springs Police Department responded to a shooting call just after 4:15 p.m..
