In a quiet home on Appalachia Road just outside of Searcy, Arkansas, the life of Sayward Mary Ala, a 46-year-old White/Caucasian female, was brought to a tragic and violent end. On the evening of Sunday, October 13, 2024, deputies from the White County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the residence after receiving a distressing call about a deceased woman.
Upon entering the home around 9:00 p.m., law enforcement officers discovered a grim scene.
Sayward Mary Ala was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Her death was not an isolated event within the residence. In the same home, deputies also located the body of a 47-year-old man. Initial observations indicated that he had died from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, suggesting a deeply personal and contained tragedy.
The bodies of both individuals were subsequently sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for a definitive determination of the cause of death for each.
